As the result of steady growth in patient volumes and a top-five national rank among Children’s health providers, the board of directors at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin decided to expand and modernize its healthcare facilities. Zimmerman served as the architect of record for the project’s first phase. Phase I includes a seven-story 237,000 sq. ft. Medical Office Building, 1,600 vehicle parking structure and a skywalk link to the existing Children’s Hospital. This expansion allowed space for research faculty and staff that were previously housed at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Zimmerman subsequently completed a master plan of the clinic’s building and West Tower and has provided dozens of additional clinic remodeling, relocation, and improvements throughout the Children’s campus.
