SSM Health – Treffert Studios

Treffert Studios is an innovative facility designed to help neurodivergent individuals find their passion and express their talents. A partnership between Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC) and SSM, this new facility located on the MPTC campus expands clinical services and programs offered by SSM Health Treffert Center.

A staff zone on the west side of the building provides a focused workspace and a staff lounge. Therapy rooms are grouped together for privacy and acoustic control. Small group activity rooms and a large art classroom open onto the large activity space. Existing skylights and a large rolling door bring natural light into the activity space. A café provides a location where clients and families to socialize. The event space will host performances and speakers. The adjacent control and recording rooms will be used for video and music production. The open wall space throughout the building will function as a gallery to display clients’ artwork.

The interior design provides a sensory-aware, client-focused physical environment. Clients can choose from large and active spaces and smaller, quiet spaces depending on their level of stimulation and comfort. The stakeholders also helped select the furniture to provide a variety of choices and comfort levels. The vibrant furniture colors provide energy and whimsy to the space.
