Woodman’s Sports & Convention Center

Woodman’s Sports & Convention Center

The new Woodman’s Sports & Convention Center represents a visionary strategic shift. This transformative project establishes the City of Janesville as a premier regional hub. It successfully attracts competitive sports, major conventions, and large community events. We designed this versatile facility to seamlessly accommodate diverse uses and vital community stakeholders. Architectural environments have the power to strengthen communities, and this ambitious project sets a new standard.

Our team confidently revitalized the Janesville Mall footprint. We replaced a former Sears anchor store with an innovative facility and a modern mezzanine. The main arena features a state-of-the-art ice rink for the Janesville Jets hockey team. This dynamic space comfortably hosts up to 1,500 enthusiastic spectators. It successfully replaces the aging 1974 ice arena with a forward-thinking recreational destination.

The Woodman’s Sports & Convention Center includes a highly flexible 25,800-square-foot event space. This expansive area proudly hosts conventions, formal banquets, and large trade shows. The convertible floor plan also supports dynamic athletic configurations:

  • Multiple high-performance basketball and volleyball courts
  • Dedicated, tournament-ready pickleball courts
  • A premium indoor turf soccer field

An additional multipurpose arena provides adjustable space for smaller conferences and sporting events. This intimate venue comfortably supports up to 250 guests. We integrated temporary flooring, advanced divider walls, and portable equipment into the architectural design. These key elements allow the Woodman’s Sports & Convention Center to transform easily and efficiently. We also prioritized wide transportation paths and dedicated storage to support seamless daily operations.

The innovative center perfectly positions Janesville as a leading recreational destination. It fosters powerful public-private partnerships that drive sustainability and long-term economic impact. We are laser-focused on developing collaborative relationships to bring these ambitious community visions to fruition. Ultimately, the completed project was reported to have created 228 new jobs and delivers a $23 million annual economic boost.
