The Baraboo Police Station and City Hall design stands as a model for modern, community-focused civic architecture. Designed by Zimmerman Architectural Studios, this innovative facility maximizes efficiency and inclusivity, seamlessly integrating with Baraboo’s vibrant riverwalk and downtown master plan.
Set along the riverfront, the building uses the natural landscape for a terraced layout that separates the police department at the lower level from city hall and council chambers above, supporting clear functionality while maintaining a modest street presence. Expansive windows offer scenic parkway views, and clerestory windows fill the public lobby with natural light.
A defining feature of the new police station is its gender-neutral lockers, allowing greater flexibility and accommodation for a diverse staff—enhancing operational adaptability and promoting an inclusive workplace.
With space designed for future growth and amenities geared toward community well-being, the Baraboo Police Station and City Hall exemplify forward-thinking, resilient civic design.
